Cow bells
Cow bells, also called treicheln, are used in animal husbandry. The bells are made in a multitude of shapes and manufacturing methods, for example bronze bells are cast, treicheln are hammered and welded by machine or by hand.
Cowbells are primarily used to find animals on an alp in the fog or as a measuring instrument for the herd. If the herd becomes restless, be it due to a hunter or a storm, the farmer or the shepherd can react to dangers at an early stage.
The cowbell is also used in the music sector as a percussion instrument or for drums. As a musical instrument there are specially tuned bells.
The oldest cast bells from the Bronze Age are from the Shang dynasty from the 15th century BC known.
