Sandblasting

« Back to Glossary Index

Sandblasting is required to remove the residual sand and discoloration from the casting. Compressed air accelerates sand, i.e. a blasting agent, out of a container and hurls it onto the casting. Sandblasting is an abrasive cleaning technique, i.e. unwanted components of the surface are detached and carried away.

Thanks to technological progress, the bells no longer have to be laboriously cleaned with a wire brush.
